(Dan Tri) – A fire broke out on the night of May 3 at an oil refinery in the Krasnodar region of Russia, after a drone attack.

`A second sleepless night for our emergency response forces,` Krasnodar Region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on the morning of May 4.

Mr. Kondratyev confirmed that dozens of firefighters tried to control a fierce fire at the Ilsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region, southwestern Russia.

According to Mr. Kondratyev, no casualties have been recorded after the incident and local people are not in danger.

Although Governor Kondratyev did not reveal the cause of the incident, a source told TASS news agency (Russia) that an oil tank caught fire early this morning and the cause was `due to an aerial attack`.

Witnesses said at least one explosion was heard in the area before the fire broke out at around 2:40 a.m. local time, according to the Baza Telegram channel.

The Ilsky refinery, near the Black Sea port of Novorossiisk in the Krasnodar region, has a capacity to process about 6.6 million tons of oil per year.

The above incident occurred just a day after another oil depot in the Krasnodar region caught fire, also due to a drone attack.

In late April, a drone strike burned down a Russian fuel depot at the port of Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula.

Andrii Yusov, representative of Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Agency, confirmed that the explosion of the Russian oil depot in the city of Sevastopol destroyed more than 10 oil tanks containing about 40,000 tons.

The city of Sevastopol is located on the southwest coast of Crimea.

Ukraine did not claim responsibility for the attack in Sevastopol.

Despite warnings, Ukrainian officials affirmed that they would soon reclaim Crimea.
