Axie Infinty is currently the most popular game in the NFT gaming industry, with more than two million regular users.
Sky Mavis teased the free Axies starter plan last year, but in early February 2022, the game development team announced the possibility of launching the free feature in the Axie Infinity: Origin update at the end of the quarter.
The Axie Infinity game has become a successful model for many other NFT games that want to develop a model for owning digital items.
The game is built on Ethereum blockchain technology, so the cost of buying three Axie NFTs at the beginning of the game will cost about $600, for many players this is a quite large expense and it is an obstacle for them in
Axie Infinity’s initial monsters will be available for new players to experience through the game, however they will not earn quest rewards – a policy that may change in the future.
Sky Mavis co-founder Jeff Zirlin told Decrypt.co last fall that the free Axies will serve as a smooth transition for the game, to create a bridge between players and players.
Besides the free Axies, the game also adds a new combat system called V3, promising to bring players a more tactical experience than the current one.
Axie Infinity emerged last summer, after launching on its Ehtereum sidechain, Ronin, which significantly cut transaction fees and wait times.
Axie Infinity’s change is seen as a way to encourage gamers in the context that the value of both the game and its token is significantly decreasing.
