As we know at the end of Avengers: Endgame, the character Captain America, after returning to the past to live a full life, gave his shield to Sam Wilson or Falcon.
It can be seen that this is a romantic ending that fans have always wanted for Steve Rogers.
And now it’s up to Sam Wilson to shine a light on Captain America’s legacy, which fans will explore in the upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
In the trailer for The Falcon and Winter Soldier, we caught a glimpse of the return of old faces, like the two main superheroes and Baron Zemo.
Just to remind everyone, John Walker was written in 1986 in Captain America #323. Created by Mark Gruenwald and Paul Neary, the character’s first alias was Super-Patriot and was a big impact character.
And with Sam Wilson set to inherit Captain America’s legacy in the MCU, it’s possible that Walker will appear as a villain in The Falcon and Winter Soldier, much like how he was introduced in the Marvel Universe comics.
We’ve seen the US agent in his own red, white and blue outfit, carrying Steve Rogers’ iconic shield, so perhaps it’s Falcon’s mission as well as Bucky’s to stop the symbols
But if there’s an `evil` shield-wielding Captain America under government control, a character who reflects the original, this would be the perfect opportunity to bring back the original Captain America: Steve Rogers. This would surely work.
Although it will somewhat cause skepticism about Sam’s ability to wield the shield and the Falcon continuing Captain America’s legacy, this is also a meaningful reminder to the MCU that good things are truly good things.
Even though Chris Evans has confirmed that he is done playing Steve Rogers, Marvel could still be planning a special appearance for Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
However, we don’t know how things will turn out right now, so let’s wait and see.
